globoloco, 2004
Globoloco consists of two series, Made in China and Made in America.
Made in China
Featuring numerous sets of barely visible glass hands clutching products, the Made in China series presents toys, clothing, hardware, computer parts, and kitchen accessories, some of the countless things churned out by china’s burgeoning manufacturing sector.
Flame worked glass, mixed media each set about 4 X 3 X 5″, 2004.
Made in America
What is there left for the US to manufacture and export? We are a country so overextended that few of us can afford even a personal shoplifter, much less a conscience. We could export our most profitable asset – the culture of war, disguised as democracy.
Cut paper collages repurposing graphic icons of the Middle East to look a lot like our flag. All are 8 X 10″, 2004.
