social progress, 1986
Inspired by the popular revolution in Nicaragua in 1979, I wanted to make a public work about patience and struggle. Noting the snail’s ability to pull 10 times its own weight this one was sited in front of the FlatIron Building in NYC, and it pulled uptown a huge ear of corn which was also host to parasitic worms.
