1983–2025: Cardboard Antlers

I made these first in 1983 for an installation in the abandoned Ritz Hotel in Washington, DC, organized by Collaborative Projects. They were remade in Summer 2025, for a show at Opus 40 in Saugerties, NY.

They are a reflection on a valuable object once alive or once a living box, and before that maybe a tree.

Sizes range from 28″ x 15″ x 12″ to 22″ x 35″ x 14″

Trophies can be the expression of dominance and physical power or they may grieve a unique life the animal once had, now stripped of its vitality and turned into decoration. This can evoke a feeling of loss.
